Is Union Square a safe area at night to walk around?
I will be traveling to San Francisco and am looking at staying a few blocks from Union Square. Is this a safe area to walk around at night. I will be traveling with my girlfriend. Thanks.

It depends on how comfortable you are with panhandlers.

I would stay away from areas where there is no one around and places that lack street lights.
